The Sports, Entertainment and Media club at Iona College hosted a viewing party of the documentary done by Ross Greenburg who teaches at the business schools grad program for sports entertainment and media. The viewing of the documentary showed the past 100 years of the NHL from the beginning of the league before the original six came and to present day superstars. Discussion was held at the end of the event by John Dellapina - Group VP of Communications, NHL and Steve Stern, Producer. They talked about the impact this documentary had on the league and why they felt it was important to show the progression of the league to the present day.

The NHL has been around longer then most people known and this four part documentary showed how much the games has changed or stayed the same. From equipment to actually play, the way goalies play to how defensivemen are more offensive and how fast players have become. Especially showing the size isn't the main objective with hockey and that skill is coming in hand with the smaller players.

One major topic they talked about is the expanison teams and how some players wouldn't even be playing hockey if those teams didnt come to their home towns. The importance of bring these teams and the importance of them winning the Stanley Cup shows that hockey is Canada sport but it could be played in any climate or place - indoor or outdoor, in Toronto or Los Angeles.

Below are the two interviews that Iona College Senior Andrew Alers conducted that I filmed and edited for the Mass Communication department could use for the grad program they just started for Sports and Communication program.
